The Waltz Club is a new monthly social dance night, where dancers from lots of different partner dance disciplines (ballroom, swing, salsa, and more) can come along and get a chance to have a dance in an informal atmosphere. There’ll be waltzes, foxtrots, quicksteps, latin, swing and other tunes played – our intention is to play a wide range of music.

The format of the evening will be:

19:30 – Doors open
19:45 – Fun micro-class
20:30-22:30 – Social Dancing

We’re continuing to provide FREE refreshments – tea, coffee, soft drinks, wine – yes, a wee glass of vino!

The main idea is to provide a really informal event where you can practise what you have learned in other classes. We’d like this to be a real Club, so we’ll be drawing up a constitution and seeking committee members from the club membership. The first night will be free, so you can come along and see what it’s all about. Thereafter there’ll be a small annual membership of £25, and an entry fee of £5 for members and £8 for non-members. Feel free to bring your own music, if there’s something specific you’d like to practise.

STOP PRESS – this month, we can get into the hall earlier so we’re going to be offering a proper 45-minute class in Cross-Step Waltz before Waltz Club. It’ll run from 6:30pm to 7:15pm and will cost £6 (£3 for Waltz Club Members).   To explain to those of you coming for the first time – Fly Right has been discovering a new partner dance called Cross-Step Waltz, a Ragtime waltz style which is undergoing something of a revival in the US and Europe. It’s simple and elegant – we’re sure you’d love to add it to your dance armoury! And to our knowledge, these are the only classes of this kind in the UK, it’s that new – so you’ll be among the first to sample its delights certainly in Scotland, and probably the rest of the country!  Take a look at this lovely video of Cross-Step Waltz, performed by our instructors in this style, Richard Powers and Angela Amarillas.
