Performance

The Fly Right Dance Company is Scotland’s only professional dance company specialising in traditional Afro-American dance or swing dance styles such as Ragtime, Charleston, Lindy Hop, Jitterbug and Jive – and we’ve recently added 19th century dances of the ballroom to our performance and teaching repertoire.  We live to perform these, and other dance styles, and have brought dance to many well-established Jazz festivals, such as the Edinburgh, Glasgow, Wigan, and Sacramento international events. We’re also in demand for corporate events, particularly themed evenings, and are regular performers at major airshows all over Scotland.  Our fun and flexible approach is also much sought-after to present fun dance classes as part of our performances.

All of our performance repertoire is delivered in authentic or replica period outfits – we’re particularly careful about the military uniforms which we use for our wartime gigs, whether World War II or World War I.  Which means that we can bring a particularly authentic look and feel to any period event – covering periods from the 19th century (think waltzes, polkas and mazurkas) through early 20th century (crazy animal dances and original Foxtrot) into the Swing era (Charleston, Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Jive…) and beyond.
