What, or who, is Fly Right? Ok, here’s the blurb:

Welcome to the website for the Fly Right Dance Company – the only Scottish professional dance performance and education company that specialises in vintage social dance – styles like 19th century ballroom dances, Ragtime, Charleston, Lindy Hop, Jitterbug and other traditional Afro-American Jazz Dances and original dances of the ballroom and dance hall.

Our primary aim is to provide the chance to dance to everyone, no matter their age, location or social situation. And to spread the word that dance (in all its forms) is a fantastic way to keep fit physically and mentally.

What’s vintage dance?
For us, the term “vintage social dance” covers all the traditional social dances that have developed  over the past two hundred years in Europe and America, and encompasses the Waltz, Mazurka, Polka, Quadrilles of the 19th century and dances that sprung up with the advent of the Jazz age, like Ragtime, Cakewalk, Charleston, Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Jump Jive and their derivatives.  We research, dance, perform and teach these dance styles, as well as other social dances of the 19th and 20th century.
